These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of zulumaps.com (the “Site”) and the purchase of products from Zulumaps, based in Munich, Germany (“Zulumaps”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing the Site or placing an order, you (“you”, “the customer”) agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
These Terms are governed by German law and applicable European Union consumer protection regulations.
1. About Zulumaps and Our Products
1.1 Zulumaps creates personalized, made-to-order map prints. Each product is custom-produced based on the design choices you make on the Site (location, style, text, dimensions, framing, and similar parameters).
1.2 Because every print is uniquely produced for you, our products fall within the scope of personalized goods under EU consumer law (see Section 7 on returns).
1.3 We work with a global network of production partners, allowing us to print and ship locally in many regions. This generally results in faster delivery and lower shipping costs, though available options depend on your destination.
1.4 We continually develop and improve our designs, materials, and product range. We reserve the right to update product specifications, pricing, and packaging at any time without prior notice. Any changes will not affect orders that have already been confirmed.
1.5 We make every effort to display product designs and finishes accurately. However, slight variations in color, texture, or finish may occur due to screen calibration, paper batches, or production tolerances. Such variations do not constitute a defect.
2. Eligibility and Account Use
2.1 To place an order, you must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract under the laws of your country of residence. In Germany, this generally means you are at least 18 years of age, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
2.2 You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during checkout, including your name, delivery address, email address, and any customization details. You are responsible for keeping this information up to date.
2.3 We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Site or refuse to fulfil orders if we reasonably believe a user is misusing the Site, violating these Terms, attempting fraudulent activity, or acting in a manner that creates legal or operational risk for Zulumaps or other users.
3. Placing an Order
3.1 When you submit an order through the Site, you are making an offer to purchase the selected product on these Terms. A binding contract is formed only when we send you an order confirmation by email.
3.2 Once an order is confirmed, it enters production quickly and cannot be modified or cancelled through the Site. If you notice an error (for example, a typo in a place name, an incorrect address, or a wrong design choice), please contact us at the support address below as soon as possible. We will try to accommodate changes on a best-effort basis but cannot guarantee them, particularly if production has already begun.

3.4 We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order at our discretion, including (but not limited to) cases of suspected fraud, payment issues, errors in pricing or product information, or content that we consider offensive, unlawful, or infringing third-party rights.
4. Pricing, Payment, and Currency
4.1 Prices are displayed on the Site in Euros (EUR) by default. Where we offer alternative currencies, the EUR price prevails in case of any discrepancy. Prices may change over time, including through promotions, seasonal sales, or discount codes. The applicable price is the one shown at the moment your order is confirmed.
4.2 We accept payment by credit card and PayPal. Additional payment methods may be added or removed without notice.
4.3 By submitting payment details, you confirm that you are authorized to use the chosen payment method.
4.4 The total amount payable, including shipping charges and any applicable taxes, is shown on the checkout page before you confirm your order. Payment must be received in full before we begin production and dispatch.
4.5 Title to the product passes to you only once full payment has been received.
5. Taxes and Customs Duties
5.1 Customers within the European Union: all prices include applicable VAT at the rate required by law. The VAT is shown on your order confirmation and invoice.
5.2 Customers outside the European Union: prices are shown excluding VAT. You may be subject to import duties, customs charges, or local taxes upon delivery, which are determined by the authorities of your destination country and are your sole responsibility. Zulumaps has no control over these charges and cannot predict their amount. We recommend contacting your local customs office before ordering if you would like an estimate.
6. Shipping and Delivery
6.1 We ship to over 200 countries and regions worldwide. Through our network of production partners, many orders are produced and dispatched locally, which generally shortens delivery times.
6.2 Shipping costs depend on your destination and the size or type of product ordered. The applicable charge is shown on the checkout page before you confirm your order. For remote or difficult-to-access destinations, additional fees may apply, in which case we will contact you before dispatch.
6.3 Estimated delivery times shown on the Site are indicative averages, not guarantees. Actual delivery times may vary due to production volume, carrier performance, customs processing, public holidays, weather, or other circumstances outside our control. We are not liable for losses or inconvenience caused by reasonable delivery delays.
6.4 You are responsible for providing a complete and correct delivery address, postal code, telephone number, and email address. We are not liable for failed or delayed deliveries, returned parcels, or additional fees caused by inaccurate or incomplete information you have provided. If a parcel is returned to us due to such an issue, you will be responsible for any reshipment costs.
6.5 Risk of loss or damage to the product passes to you upon delivery (or, where you have arranged your own carrier, upon handover to that carrier).
7. Returns, Replacements, and Right of Withdrawal
7.1 Right of withdrawal — personalized goods. Under § 312g (2) No. 1 of the German Civil Code (BGB), implementing Article 16(c) of EU Directive 2011/83/EU, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to goods that are made to the consumer’s specifications or are clearly personalized. Because all Zulumaps products are individually customized to your design choices, orders cannot be cancelled or returned for a change of mind once production has begun.
7.2 Damaged, defective, or incorrect items. Your statutory rights under German and EU law in case of defective products remain fully unaffected. If your product arrives damaged, defective, or differs materially from what you ordered (for example, a print error or wrong customization), please contact support@zulumaps.com within a reasonable period after delivery, including:
- your order number,
- a clear description of the issue, and
- photos of the affected product and packaging.
7.3 Once we have reviewed and confirmed the issue, we will reprint and reship the product at no additional cost, or — at our discretion and where a replacement is not appropriate — issue a refund. Refunds are processed using the original payment method, generally within five (5) working days of approval.
7.4 We aim to assess every claim within 14 days of receiving your message. We may ask for additional information or evidence to investigate.
7.5 The remedies above do not apply where the issue results from incorrect details you provided (for example, a misspelled location name, wrong coordinates, or a typo in custom text). In such cases, a new order at standard price would be required.
8. Intellectual Property
8.1 The Site, its design, software, text, graphics, logos, and all original map design styles offered by Zulumaps are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Site without our prior written consent.
8.2 By submitting custom text or other content for printing (for example, place names, dedications, or coordinates), you confirm that you have the right to use that content and that it does not infringe the rights of any third party. We reserve the right to refuse to produce content that we consider offensive, unlawful, defamatory, or rights-infringing.
9. Privacy and Data Protection
9.1 We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at https://zulumaps.com/privacy-policy/. The Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, the legal bases for processing, your rights under the GDPR, and how to contact us regarding your data.
9.2 By placing an order, you acknowledge that we will share necessary order and address details with our production and shipping partners for the sole purpose of fulfilling your order.
10. Liability
10.1 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for defects in products under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
10.2 Subject to clause 10.1, our liability for breach of contract or negligence is limited to foreseeable damages typical for this type of contract. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses, including lost profits, lost business opportunities, or losses arising from circumstances outside our reasonable control.
10.3 Subject to clause 10.1, our total liability arising out of or in connection with any single order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.
11. Indemnity
11.1 You agree to indemnify and hold Zulumaps and its directors, employees, and partners harmless from any third-party claim, demand, or reasonable legal costs arising out of (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your violation of any law, or (c) your infringement of any third-party right, including in connection with content you submitted for printing.
12. Force Majeure
12.1 We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations where such delay or failure is caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, strikes, transport disruptions, supply chain failures, pandemics, government actions, or interruptions to internet or postal services.
13. Changes to These Terms
13.1 We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in law, our services, or business practices. The version in force at the time you place your order is the version that applies to that order.
13.2 The current version is always available on the Site. Material changes affecting customers with active orders or recurring arrangements will be communicated where required by law.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
14.1 These Terms and any contract formed under them are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). For consumers habitually resident in another EU country, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
14.2 If a dispute arises, we encourage you first to contact us at support@zulumaps.com so we can try to resolve the matter directly.
14.3 The European Commission provides an Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform, available at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are, however, not obliged and not generally willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
14.4 The non-exclusive place of jurisdiction for disputes is Munich, Germany, to the extent permitted by law. Mandatory consumer jurisdiction rules remain unaffected.
15. General Provisions
15.1 If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
15.2 Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not waive our right to do so later.
15.3 These Terms do not create any partnership, agency, joint venture, or employment relationship between you and Zulumaps.
15.4 Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
